Mack Ukich: Jim Davis has a very commercialized style that appeals to a mass audience. He still maintains much of the uniqueness he started out with in the '70's with the big eyes, but his style has evolved to to become more accessible to a mass readership. I think that his style is very expressive, and funny. He has combined originality with commercial appeal. That's why you see Garfield's likeness all over everything from greetings-cards to t-shirts.
