what makes a fast car fast?

Lester Haschke: The easiest way to answer all of your questions is to understand that weight is the enemy of horsepower. To make a car "fast" - you have a lot of horsepower and a minimum amount of weight. A Bugatti or Lamborghini has a high powered motor and a (relatively) small amount of mass to be pushing. It would be impossible to put a motor out of a Mack or Peterbuilt into a Lamborghini frame because of the size - but if you could - it would slow it down, because although the motor is huge, has a lot of torque, but is extremely heavy....Show more

Marvel Mcaulay: the design of the car to get balance of weight and power and that it will handle well- you can make anything fast with $$$ but not handle well. there's lots of mustangs out on the street that are faster than a lambo in a strait line.

Cortez Badolato: What he said. There are many, many variables that contribute to making a car "fast"But in general, it is the HP/Weight ratio that says the most

!

Clement Viscarro: power to weight ratio, and wind resistance mostly, if you put a semi engine on a lambo frame it wouldn't do much because semis don't rev high, they have low RPMS with tonnes of torque.
