Should I do a HND in performing arts before I go to Drama School?

answers1: So you think you have talent and a degree will enhance your
career. If that were so than folks like Biber or the kardashians would
be spending their fortunes on the very same things. You get a degree
to specialize in a field, theater has many different needs other than
a pretty face actress. So yes look into the other related fields of
the arts as your more likely to find a career in those than making it
big as the star.

Performing arts schools in/near Alabama or near one of the surrounding states?

answers1: complicated task. research in search engines like google.
that will might help!
answers2: Memphis has a middle school that specializes in performing
arts- Colonial Middle school. Then Overton High School is an optional
(magnet) school for performing arts for grades 9-12. There's a strong
tradition of performing arts in Memphis, especially in music and
theater. Musicians come from all around the world to record there
because of the atmosphere and the recording studios. There are several
local theaters where high school students often star in performances.
answers3: Whoooeee! When they done gimme this job of promotin' the
arts in Alabama, I must confess I didn't really understand what the
"arts" were (or what "promotin" was fer that matter). Course, I come
to learn a great deal about the Arts in Bama. Right now in Alabama,
we got both the Visual (or lookin' at) Arts and the Performing (which
you also are lookin' at) Arts such as music and dancin'. <br>
<br>
For your Visual Arts, you can sign up to be a taxidermy apprentice at
Sweet Water Taxidermy in Bayou La Batre, Alabama. <br>
<br>
For your Performing Arts, we got banjo pickin' provided by the
retarded boy from Deliverance. Dancin' can be learned at Christies
Cabaret in Tuscaloosa. Bring your own g-string. <br>

Should I Join a Performing Arts School?

answers1: I recently had to make a simaliar desicion. I wasn't sure
what I wanted to do but the program at this school was great. I loved
my old school and friends. My descison was very hard to make. I
started by applying then came the hard part once I got in desiding.
Are you going to be dissapointed if you don't go? This is a once in a
life time option if it doesn't work you can still go back to your
other school. Does your school now have a good program for the arts?
Are the acedemics at this new school as good as your current school?
Remember you can still stay in touch with your friends. After thinking
over theses options make a pro and con chart include meeting new
people and staying with friends. Talk to your parents they may have
ideas and insights. Good luck hope you are happy where ever you go.
And if it helps I choice the performing arts school :)
answers2: Girl, live for you. If being an entertainer is what you
really want to do, then go for it. If those people are your friends,
they will always be there.
answers3: go for it! your life is about you! if i were you i would
totally do it! your friends will still be friends with you know matter
if you still go to the same school OR NOT! answer mine plez

Does anyone know some good performing arts colleges?

answers1: My edition of the Dance Magazine College Guide lists 21
colleges in California, 3 in Oregon, and 2 in Washington that offer
either a BA or BFA in dance (or a related degree, such as Theatre,
with a dance concentration). Most of them are not at what you'd call
"performing arts colleges," but regular liberal arts colleges or
universities. <br>
<br>
What constitutes a "good" college, worthy of recommendation, is
totally subjective. It all depends what you want to do with dance, how
competitive or artistic you want the atmosphere, what else you might
like to study, etc. But, for what it's worth, some west coast schools
that get mentioned often are: <br>
<br>
California Institute of the Arts <br>
California State University - Long Beach <br>
Chapman University <br>
Dominican University/LINES Ballet <br>
University of California - Irvine <br>
and <br>
Cornish College of the Arts (in Seattle) <br>
<br>
I recommend that you get a copy of the Dance Magazine College Guide
to read more about your options: <br>
<a href="http://www.dancemagazine.com/thecollegeguide/intro"

answers2: Oklahoma City University's Ann Lacy School of American Dance
and Arts Management offers three unique dance degrees: Dance
Performance, Dance Management and American Dance Teacher. Our school
focuses on American dance forms, including jazz, tap, and ballet as
used in musical theater. Our graduates can be found dancing all across
the entertainment industry from Broadway to Las Vegas, from L.A. to
Tokyo and have lifelong, successful career in the dance and
entertainment industry. <br>
<br>
The Dance Performance degree is for dancers interested in becoming a
triple threat in the entertainment industry. Dance performance majors
take classes in dance technique (jazz, tap, ballet, musical theater,
pointe, partnering, rhythm tap, and more), acting, and voice. In
addition to developing performing abilities, dance performance majors
also learn to manage their careers through classes concerning
professional standards and conduct, contracts, dancer's health and
anatomy. Dance performance majors also take classes in jazz, tap and
ballet pedagogy and choreography, so they are also prepared for
careers as teachers and choreographers as well as triple threat
performers. <br>
<br>
The Dance Management degree is for dancers interested in dancing as
well as the management of the arts. The dance management degrees
supports a wide range of career possibilities for dancers. Dance
management majors have a core of dance technique classes (jazz, tap,
ballet, musical theater, pointe, partnering, rhythm tap, and more),
arts management classes, and business classes. The arts management
core of classes include: entertainment technology, non-profit
management, fundraising and development, touring performing arts,
presenting and sponsoring performances, contracts, stage management
and costuming. The business core of classes include: marketing,
economics, accounting, business law, business finance, statistics and
management and organization. The dance management degree is ideal for
a wide variety of dancers including dancers who would like have a
performance career and then transition to a management career without
having to return to college to supplement earlier training. Other
dancers may want to work as a company manager, stage manager or
another arts management position after college. <br>
<br>
The American Dance Teacher degree is for dancers interested in a
lifelong career as an extraordinarily well-prepared teacher. The new
American dance teacher degree provides dancers with a depth and
breadth of study never attempted by other dance programs. Dancers will
experience a well-rounded program that includes instruction in: tap,
jazz and ballet technique, tap, jazz and ballet pedagogy, dance
history, choreography, anatomy and dance health, dance studio
management, dance studio technology, marketing and advertising,
contracts and management and non-profit management. American dance
teacher majors also will receive hands on experience through teaching
in the Community Dance Center while receiving feedback from OCU dance
faculty. <br>

world history.....?????

answers1: If your friend has a degree in history you need to find out
which particular period or aspect of history most interests her and
then tailor the gift to that. (European or American or Asian history?
ancient, Medieval or Modern? Social or political or economic
history?) World history is too vast a field and anything you could
find, such as a basic encyclopedia, would probably not be of much use
to her. <br>
<br>
I'm a historian myself so please trust me on this.
answers2: To get one on the entire history of the world would be very
difficult, is there a specific time period she is more interested in
than others? <br>

Genealogy question about mistakes?

answers1: Start your own family tree so it will be correct from now on.
answers2: The simplest way (and free) is to get a bible or other place
for a family record and write down the information there. If they are
your descendants then they should have access to that in the future.
You can also go to Surname Message Boards like GenForum <a
href="http://genforum.genealogy.com/"
rel="nofollow"class=Clr-b>http://genforum.genealogy.com/</a> and
Rootsweb <a href="http://boards.rootsweb.com/"
rel="nofollow"class=Clr-b>http://boards.rootsweb.com/</a> and post
that 'John Doe' as listed on bc is not the bio father of James Doe
born in NY between 1996 and 2010, do not post mother's name, exact
place or date of birth, for privacy reasons. If you know bio dad name
then post that too. y posting bio dad name fi he had or has any other
children and they do genealogy research, they may find you and contact
you. Do not post it if you don't want to be found. Also get a generic
email account like gmail, hotmail, or yahoo to use just for genealogy
research use, as you can keep that one no matter what isp you use in
the future and also privacy.
answers3: DNA proof of parentage <br>
Signed affidavit from your mother <br>
Research your family history making sure you write all the information down <br>
<br>
Something similar has happened in my FH with my Great Grandfather, his
birth certificate, baptism record states one man as his father...for
some reason it didn't 'feel' right to me and once I started
researching this family they really didn't 'feel' like my family...so
I stopped researching and researched other lines.......then decided to
look again 10 years later finding clues ( no documentary proof)
following those clues and finding a person who I thought could be even
though he is not named in paperwork having researched and found his
line and prison record along with photograph which looked like my
grand father, Uncle and cousin........DNA proved he was related, so
the father on record is stepfather although I have researched his line
just out of interest...it just makes FH 'interesting'
answers4: You can file a petition in a state court to have your birth
certificate corrected. I am not sure how it is done so I would find a
lawyer who does free initial consultations and ask. Then you can
decide if it is worth the cost or if you might not even need an
attorney. <br>
<br>
My wife had her name on her birth certificate changed to her adoptive
father's name. It is now as if her birth father never existed in her
life. <br>
<br>
DNA genealogy has shown us that as much as 20% of people have an
unknown Non Paternal Event (NPE) in their family history someplace. I
think you have a great idea to correct that now for the future.
answers5: You could start your own family tree for your descendants.
You can use that to explain the discrepancy between your birth
certificate and the truth.

Are there any free genealogy websites???? Please help. :(?

answers1: Rootsweb is one of the best. They are actually trying to
make as much free as possible.They have little subsites of just about
every county, city & state in the U.S. Then there is
www.familysearch.com a huge chunk of their stuff is free. The
genealogy forum & ancestry have free message boards that are great. I
found a great aunt, uncle & their 7 kids in an obit on the ancestry
message board.I had no idea all of them had moved to various places
until the one child died. <br>
<br>
But anymore just about anyplace you need to know more about someone
who lived there has some kind of presence on the web to help. Knowing
more specifically what you're looking for would help.
answers2: There are lots of free websites on the Internet. I assume
you are looking for websites to find information about you ancestors.
<br>
<br>
Your public libraries will most likely have both Ancestry.com and
Heritage Quest free for anyone to use while at the library and with a
library card you should be able to use Heritage Quest at
home...Heritage Quest has the census and other genealogy reference
material which is very helpful in tracing your ancestors and
Ancestry.com has the most original records of any website. <br>
<br>
Another free online resource is the LDS/Mormon site, which has many
free online records at <a href="http://www.familysearch.org/"
rel="nofollow"class=Clr-b>http://www.familysearch.org/</a> and
original documents on their pilot site at <a
href="http://pilot.familysearch.org/recordsearch/start.html#p=0"
rel="nofollow"class=Clr-b>http://pilot.familysearch.org/recordsear...</a>
. They have also just added a new Beta site that has a few more
databases, which you might find useful <a
href="http://fsbeta.familysearch.org/s/collection/list"
rel="nofollow"class=Clr-b>http://fsbeta.familysearch.org/s/collect...</a>
. In addition to their online records, they have the Family History
Centers where you can go for help with research and look at microfilm
and they only charge nominal fees if they have to order something
specifically for you . Find a location near you on their website and
call to check hours of operation. http://www.familysearch.org/ . <br>
<br>
Additionally, USGen Web is another free online resource at
http://www.usgenweb.org/ . This site is packed with how-to tips,
queries and records for every state and most counties within those
states. Then, there is Rootsweb at http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/ a
free site hosted by Ancestry.com where you can search for surnames,
post queries on the message boards and subscribe to surname mailing
lists. <br>
<br>
Also, do not forget to check Cyndi's List at
http://www.cyndislist.com/ and ProGenealogist top 100 genealogist
websites at http://familytreemagazine.com/article/101best2009 <br>
both of these sites have many links for both free and fee based sites.
answers3: There are many, depending on what your are looking for.
There are free personal family websites and there are sites that are
for research that are free.
answers4: There are over 400,000 free genealogy sites. Among them <br>
<br>
www.cyndislist.com - 250,000 links, all categorized. <br>
www.familysearch.org - The Mormons. Gazillions of records. <br>
wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com - Roots Web World Connect - 600,000,000+ entries <br>
usgenweb.org - Sites for every county in every state in the USA <br>
ssdi.rootsweb.ancestry.com - Social Security Death Index, 83 million names <br>
vitals.rootsweb.ancestry.com/ca/death/ - California Death Index,
9,366,786 records <br>
www.findagrave.com - 43 million records <br>
genforum.genealogy.com - Query boards for every county in every state,
and thousands of surnames. <br>
boards.ancestry.com - The other Query board site; counties and
surnames too. <br>
archiver.rootsweb.ancestry.com Roots Web Mailing List Archive - Over
30 million messages <br>
<br>
I have a page with real links to all of those, below, but you'll have
to wade through some advice and warnings first. <br>
<br>
If you search the resolved questions in this category only for the
word "Free"(use "Advanced" to limit your search to this category
only), you'll find there are thousands questions with the word, and at
least 2/3rds of them ask "How can I trace my family tree for free?",
just like you did. The answers to those questions have lots of links
and tips. We top 10 paste our stock answer to that question 3 - 12
times a day, sigh, and wonder why you kids haven't read the resolved
questions. You are rare and special in some ways, undoubtedly, but not
in your curiosity about your family. As of 7 June 2010 there were
4,456 questions with the word "free" in them in Genealogy. <br>
<br>
If you didn't mention a country, and you didn't go into Yahoo! by one
of their international sub-sites, we can't tell if you are in the USA,
UK, Canada or Australia. I'm in the USA and my links are for it. <br>
<br>
If you are in the USA, <br>
AND most of your ancestors were in the USA, <br>
AND you can get to a library or FHC with census access, <br>
AND you are white <br>
Then you can get most of your ancestors who were alive in 1850 with
100 - 300 hours of research. You can only get to 1870 if you are
black, sadly. Many people stop reading here and pick another hobby.
<br>
<br>
No web site is going to tell you how your great grandparents decorated
the Christmas tree with ornaments cut from tin foil during the
depression, how Great Uncle Elmer wooed his wife with a banjo, or how
Uncle John paid his way through college in the 1960's by smuggling
herbs. Talk to your living relatives before it is too late. <br>
<br>
You won't find living people on genealogy sites. You'll have to get
back to people living in 1930 or so by talking to relatives, looking
up obituaries and so forth. <br>
<br>
Finally, not everything you read on the internet is true. You have to
be cautious and look at people's sources. Cross-check and verify.
<br>
<br>
So much for the warnings. Here is the main link. <br>
<br>
<a href="http://www.tedpack.org/yagenlinks.html"
rel="nofollow"class=Clr-b>http://www.tedpack.org/yagenlinks.html</a>
<br>
<br>
That page has links, plus tips and hints on how to use the sites, for
a dozen huge free sites. Having one link here in the answer and a
dozen links on my personal site gets around two problems. First, Y!A
limits us to 10 links in an answer. Second, if one or more of the
links are popular, I get "We're taking a breather" when I try to post
the answer. This is a bug introduced sometime in August 2008 with the
"new look". <br>
<br>
You will need the tips. Just for instance, most beginners either put
too much data into the RWWC query page, or they mistake the Ancestry
ads at the top for the query form. I used to teach a class on Internet
Genealogy at the library. I watched the mistakes beginners made. The
query forms on the sites are NOT intuitive.

Where can I find free genealogy records?

answers1: www.cyndislist.com is a collection of thousands of
genealogy sites. Most of the 'for fee' sites will come up, if you
google genealogy, family history, etc. Most of these type sites claim
to offer family trees. <br>
Genealogy records are found anywhere that your ancestors were. For
instance, your family lived in Dallas, Texas.. you need to google
Dallas cemeteries or Dallas history, etc. <br>
Start by using cyndi's beginner section, which has excellent
tutorials. When you educate yourself about the process, you are in a
better position to recognize how to get RECORDS, not just pre packaged
"trees". They may or may not be correct.. they are the results of
someone else's research, not original stuff. <br>
Ancestry is the best known 'fee' site. It does offer original
records.. but it is a service, and the fee is valid. You would have
costs to access this info, if you had to go elsewhere. <br>
Most records might be 'free'... the effort to get them, not always.
answers2: See -- <a href="https://backgroundreports.im/ancestry"
rel="nofollow"class=Clr-b>https://backgroundreports.im/ancestry</a>
answers3: I know what you mean - and I hate paying for stuff! <br>
<br>
I don't know where you are looking, but in Ontario, Canada, there is a
great free source: <br>
<a href="http://www.archives.gov.on.ca/english/interloan/vsmain.htm"
rel="nofollow"class=Clr-b>http://www.archives.gov.on.ca/english/in...</a>
<br>
I hope you are in Ontario - basically, you look up birth, marriage and
death records on an index in your local library and then the library
orders (for free) the microfilm reel with the actual record. <br>
<br>
Another great site is Archives Canada at: <br>
<a href="http://www.collectionscanada.gc.ca/index-e.html"
rel="nofollow"class=Clr-b>http://www.collectionscanada.gc.ca/index...</a>
<br>
<br>
Canadian census figures are at <a
href="http://automatedgenealogy.com/index.html"
rel="nofollow"class=Clr-b>http://automatedgenealogy.com/index.html</a>
<br>
<br>
For information from the UK, try: <br>
http://www.genuki.org.uk/ <br>
and there are indexes for birth, marriage and death at <br>
http://freebmd.rootsweb.com/ BUT you have to pay (I think £7) to get
the actual record mailed to you. <br>
<br>
A fun site to look at is http://www.tribalpages.com/ You can search
for names, but some of the family trees are sometimes not accurate.
You can also post your own family tree for free. This makes it easier
to share with others and ask questions.
answers4: Family Search <br>
<a href="http://www.familysearch.org"
rel="nofollow"class=Clr-b>http://www.familysearch.org</a> <br>
Search the Family History Library's database, which contains millions
of names from thousands of family trees. <br>
<br>
GenCircles <br>
<a href="http://www.GenCircles.com"
rel="nofollow"class=Clr-b>http://www.GenCircles.com</a> <br>
Searching the global tree and viewing results is free to everyone. In
addition to first and last names, the database is searchable by dates
and places of birth, baptism, marriage, death, and burial, as well as
by the names of an individual's father, mother and spouse. <br>
<br>
GeneaNet <br>
<a href="http://www.geneanet.org"
rel="nofollow"class=Clr-b>http://www.geneanet.org</a> <br>
A database that indexes all the world's genealogical resources,
whether Net-based or not and whether free or fee-paying. <br>
<br>
Free On Ancestry <br>
http://www.freeonancestry.com/ <br>

GenealogyBuff.com <br>
http://www.genealogybuff.com <br>
Search for your surname in dozens of family history databases with one
click. Though you still have to visit each site to see the results (or
find out your search came up empty), GenealogyBuff.com can be a good
starting point for online research. <br>
<br>
USGenWeb <br>
http://www.usgenweb.org <br>
The USGenWeb is one of the premier sites for US researchers. Here
you'll find Web pages for every US state and county. <br>
<br>
AncestralFindings <br>
http://www.ancestralfindings.com <br>
AncestralFindings may not own every database you're interested in, but
its collection is impressive. Holdings include CD-ROM records of
births, deaths, marriages, census indexes, land records, passenger
lists, immigrations and Genealogy.com's entire World Family Tree
collection.

How to dance at a school dance?

answers1: all you have to remember there will be teachers there so be careful
answers2: What ever you do DON"T do a dirty dance of any sort. There
have been newspaper reports of dances being banned because kids are
dancing crude and sexually. Slow songs are easy to dance to, you just
hold your date and move your feet from side to side. Fast dancing can
be tricky. You might want to be within a few feet of your date but
not touching. If you watch any movies about high school you will see
most of the people don't touch when fast dancing. There are a number
of how to dance videos on You Tube you might want to look at.
answers3: the above answer is correct but whatever you do, just don't
stress about it, try and be confident.
answers4: Just find the beat and move. Just dont freak dance, at my
school, kids have gotting removed from the dance floor or kicked out
of the dance for doing that. To answer your other question: No, a lap
dance is usually when your sitting down and the girl is dancing low on
you.
answers5: well if u r old enough.... grind with her.....i love it!

different dances for two?

answers1: You should get them in a dance studio. Look for dance
studios near you on <a href="http://www.accessdance.com"
rel="nofollow"class=Clr-b>http://www.accessdance.com</a> Dancing is
not just visual copying of what instructor does. Especially with
couple dancing - if you just visually copy you will notice right away
that you are pulling and pushing each other in uncomfortable way
because you don't really understand how the steps are led and
followed. Learning in dance classes is much faster because it is more
effective than from a video.
answers2: You can get instruction for just about all the popular
social dances for couples at your nearest ballroom dance studio. The
steps and patterns that you might get online are not particularly
important. The connection between partners is, and that requires
personal instruction in real life.

At what point in writing a book is a person an author?

answers1: I think a person is an author when they finish the book. it
doesnt matter if they get it published or not, if they took the time
and effort to write a book then i think that they are an author.
answers2: I would say that you're an author only after you've been
published. Until then you can say you're an aspiring author, or a
writer. "Author" has the same root as the word "authority"; you have
to have some recognition by others before you can claim authorship.
answers3: Google defines it as: writer: writes (books or stories or
articles or the like) professionally (for pay) The originator or
creator of a work, especially a literary composition; a writer; Source
of information; To create a work by its author <br>
the person who created the content of a book, article, or other source. <br>
the writer of a book, article or other text <br>
<br>
Personally I think if you write continuously you are an author, even
if nothing gets published.
answers4: You have to be published.
answers5: Conventionally, you are a writer until you are published in
a reputable publication (does not include self-publishing). After
that, you are an author. <br>
<br>
I did not call myself an author until I had a book under contract even
though I was published for ten years before that in magazines.
answers6: Author is the term used to describe the writer of a specific
work. For example, Kathryn W is the author of this post. I would not
use the terms unpublished author or aspiring author at all - I would
be more like to say unpublished writer or aspiring writer. I would
only ever describe a writer as an author when commenting on a specific
work e.g Charles Dickens is the author of Great Expectations.
answers7: I'd say that a person is an author when their first book is published
answers8: Technically you are an author as soon as you have written
something. But it's generally considered rather pretentious to call
yourself an author unless you have been published and somebody paid
you for it. We already have a perfectly good term for people who write
- it's "writer" - so there's absolutely no need for all this
"unpublished" and "aspiring" nonsense. Be honest about where you are
with your writing, and you'll get far more respect. <br>
<br>
(This is the generic "you", not you in particular)
answers9: The minute that person puts words on a page; I'm the
"author" of this post. Author, as opposed to "writer" generally
refers to a specific work: the author of a book, for example. I'm a
writer, and the author of an unfinished sci-fi novel. <br>
<br>
The problem is that the word is ambiguous: anyone can write (mostly),
therefore anyone can "author". It's similar to singing: anyone can
sing, but how many people would you pay to listen to. <br>
<br>
If this question refers to you, then by all means, call yourself an
author. The important part is living up to the name. <br>
<br>

3. the maker of anything; creator; originator: the author of a new tax

4. Computers. the writer of a software program, esp. a hypertext or

"splatterpunk" authors?

answers1: David J Schow is actually one of the founders of this
movement and there's also a few anthologies that collect stories of
this type titled Splatterpunks. Some other good horror authors that
might strike your interest are Bentley Little, Brian Keene (great
action, gore and awesome with zombies) Poppy Z. Brite ( I highly
recommend Drawing Blood, The Lazarus Heart and Exquisite Corpse (it
nearly didn't get published due to the violence and gore in it), Joe
Lansdale, Robert McCammon (not all of his stuff is horror or
splatterpunk but he's good at what he does), and John Shirley. If you
like vampires that lean in that direction you mgiht also like Maryanne
Mitchell and Jemiah Jefferson. <br>
<br>
<br>

answers2: Edward Lee, Ron Frascell, Bryan Smith, J.F. Gonzalez, Brian
Keene, and Maberr Jonathan.

the WWF, plus he talks about meeting his wife (who happened to work
for WCW of all places at the time), his injury that put him on the
shelf for 4 years, and his return. The book is especially good if you
